Heidi Bruntmyer

My name is Heidi Bruntmyer and I am one of the 6th-10th Grade Physical Education Teachers. This will be my second year of teaching and I am very excited to be a part of Carrollton Classical Academy.

I graduated Cum Laude from Texas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise and Sports Science, focusing in all-level Physical Education and minoring in Special Education. Like the students of Carrollton Classical, much of my K-12 education came via a classical curriculum. The training served me well in college and life in general! I am happy to support the same education for our students here.

Growing up in a military family, I was constantly surrounded by different cultures, people, and perspectives. Without this type of upbringing, I would not have been exposed to things like ice hockey and cricket, or introduced to fencing, a sport I've been participating in since the age of eleven. I found great mentors in the fencing community who not only helped me improve my form and technique but taught me what true sportsmanship is all about. They modeled for me the truth that while winning a bout is great, it's a distant second to the feeling of friendship and community that is possible through sport. As we moved around the country, that community was often a lifeline to me and what drives me to support life-long sports and activities to my students.

I am proud to join the team and looking forward to sharing my love for non-traditional activities to the students of Carrollton Classical Academy!
